Aromatherapy in your Life

Adding Aromatherapy in your Life can Be Easy and Fun

Aromatherapy is such an appealing idea to many people, but knowing how, when and where to use it is essential to being able to fully enjoy its benefits. Once a person knows about essential oils, what certain scents can do and where to buy them, there is still more to learn! There are many ways to use aromatherapy every day. In fact, it is possible to bring aromatherapy into every part of your daily life.

Aromatherapy as a lifestyle is easier than some might believe. It can be fun and beneficial to everyone in a home. Most people think that they can only use a diffuser of some kind to enjoy aromatherapy, yet this isn’t the case. As long as safety is always kept in mind, there are many ways to introduce aromatherapy into any lifestyle.

The trick to being able to enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy is in being able to inhale the scent. You can easily enjoy your own personal, private aromatherapy at any time by having a tissue with a drop or two of your selected essential oil with you throughout your day. Start off with a single drop of the oil to make sure that it isn’t overwhelming, cause sensitivity or any adverse reactions. This is also a great way to enjoy aromatherapy when you are around people who have severe allergies or sensitivities to strong smells.

You can create your own personal inhaler by using steam inhalation for aromatherapy. Start by boiling a couple of cups of water and then add your essential oil to the steaming water. The amount you add will depend on your sensitivity levels, so it might take a few tries to get the perfect scent for you. Some oils are particularly irritating to the mucous membranes and should be used sparingly like pine, cinnamon and eucalyptus. Keeping your nose about a foot away from the steaming bowl, take a deep breath and allow your senses to work with the aroma. Using steam inhalation is a very effective way to experience aromatherapy and it is very helpful when using aromatherapy to help treat illness.

When you want less personal aromatherapy and an all around aromatherapy experience, you can use essential oils to freshen your home! You can use diffusers, lamp rings and directly place drops of oil in strategic locations around your home. A steaming bowl of water does the job, too.

For additional options to introduce aromatherapy around your home, you can use essential oils while you clean! Refuse bins can always use some freshening up and a few drops of your preferred essential oil can keep it smelling fresh. You can add oils to a load of laundry, in your vacuum filter and even on a tissue to keep in your dresser drawers.

While you research different essential oils, you may discover that certain scents like lavender, peppermint and citronella naturally repel pesky bugs. If you have bugs in your home, put a few drops of your oil on cotton balls and then set them near doors and windows to keep bugs from entering. Avoid wearing these oils as a repellent on your skin as they can be very irritating. You can carry some scented cotton balls in your pocket to help naturally repel bugs when you are outdoors.

Finally, one of the most popular ways people want to use their essential oils for aromatherapy is in their bath water. The best way to do this is to use about 1 ounce of a carrier oil with five or so drops of your essential oil in your bath water. Always research the kind of oil you want to use for safety information before adding it to your bath water.

There are many different ways to introduce aromatherapy as part of a lifestyle and these are just a few ideas to get your started. The more you enjoy your aromatherapy, the more you will likely find your own creative ways to add more beneficial scents to your day!
